Annual / Special Grants

Submit grant requests by August 31st (2024 events) and January 31st (2025 events). Grants will not be processed after April 30th, 2025 - apply early to avoid delays.

The Ministry acknowledges the varying financial needs of sports federations and associations. To address this, bi-annual grant applications will be introduced, providing full or partial payment opportunities. Additionally, eligible federations, particularly those designated as Core Sport National Associations and Federations, may apply for Special Grants under Article 8, Section C of the National Sports Policy. These grants are contingent upon verified needs and successful developmental programs, focusing on initiatives in the Family Islands and typically do not exceed 25% of the organisation’s annual base grant.

Financial grants

are accessible to governing bodies registered in the National Directory of Sporting Associations, provided they meet specific criteria. This includes submitting annual Statements of Accounts, upholding high moral standards during international representation, adhering to charter rules, maintaining constitutions and bylaws compliant with national and international standards, and supplying an annual Calendar of Events and Executive Officers list. Federations must also consult with the Sports Department in advance of bidding for major global events, ensure compliance with travel protocols for international competitions, promote youth developmental leagues, especially for girls, and demonstrate achievement of goals outlined in Article 21 of the National Sports Policy to determine the size of their Annual Base Grant.

These measures are designed to ensure the fair and effective allocation of financial grants, foster sustainable sports development, and uphold organisational integrity in the Bahamian sports community.

2025 National Summer Youth Employment Programme Applications Are Now Open on MyGateway

The Ministry of Youth, Sports, and Culture is pleased to announce that applications for the 2025 National Summer Youth Employment Programme are now available on MyGateway. The programme will run from 7th July to 1st August 2025.

Programme Tracks

General Youth Employment – Corporate placements (18+), Camp Instructors, and Apprenticeships in areas such as agriculture, culinary arts, carpentry, and more
Sports Employment – Camp Instructors, Lifeguard/CPR Certifications, and Referee Certifications
Culture Employment – Camp Instructors and Apprenticeships in music, performance, media, visual arts, and traditional crafts
How to Complete Your Application on MyGateway

Log in or Sign Up at services.mygateway.gov.bs/login
If an applicant is under 18, a parent or guardian must use their own MyGateway account to apply on their behalf
Applicants 18 and older must use their personal MyGateway account
For Desktop/Laptop Devices: Navigate to the left-hand panel and select "Ministry of Youth, Sports, and Culture"
For Mobile/Table Devices: Click the menu button in the upper left corner to access the list of Ministries and services available. Select "Ministry of Youth, Sports, and Culture"
You will see separate application forms listed by category and island within the dropdown menus:

Complete all required fields accurately
Upload all required documents. Ensure they are clear, legible, and meet the specified file requirements. Do not upload blank or blurry documents, as your application will not be accepted
Get Your Bank Accounts Ready
All youth participants must have a bank account in their name
You will be required to upload Bank Account Information and Proof of Recent Activity. Acceptable uploads include:
Card with bank name, branch, account number, and transit code
OR a bank statement
Submissions without clear banking information may cause delays in processing or disqualification.
